Least surprising news of the day: Increasing Whole Grain Consumption Does Nothing To Improve Cardiovascular Risk Factors

Anecdotal observational evidence will show that people who consume more whole grains tend to experience fewer cardiovascular events. This is NOT the same thing as saying that consuming more whole grains causes you to experience fewer cardio vascular events. This large scale, randomized, controlled dietary intervention demonstrates exactly that. Once again we have a great example of a fundamental misunderstanding of correlation and causation.

"The lack of impact of increasing WG [whole grain] consumption on CVD [cardiovascular disease] risk markers implies that public health messages may need to be clarified [clarified?! Ya think?!] to consider the source of WG and/or other diet and lifestyle factors linked to the benefits of whole-grain consumption seen in observational studies."
